From Motown to James Brown, Funk to Blues, this International Artiste and his band will Rock your party and get your guest from all ages into the groove of Rhythm and Blues. Having him for your function is an honour by itself as he has shared the stage with BB King. Not many will dispute that he probably has the most awesome voice and stage presence. His Motown function band has grown form strength to strength in the last three years and is very much in demand for weddings and corporate events in London and the rest of the UK including a few high profile events abroad.
Originally from Detroit, Michigan USA, He lived near Hitsville and grew up to Motown grooves. Now settled in the UK, he is a rising star, here and in Europe as a blues artiste but also finds the time to perform for private events with his function band. He opened up at the Royal Albert Hall for BB King and has shared the bill with Walter Trout. His second UK album Walkin' Shoes, has just been released.
Below are a few samples of Marcus and his function band doing some covers. The function band repertoire includes tributes to the rat pack, blues brothers classic pop and even popular Latin numbers. The function band also performs Jewish Hora music when required.
Client Comments Just wanted to say a big thank you to the Motor City Group for playing at my wedding in May. They were absolutely brilliant and the dance floor was packed all night long! All my guests commented on how great they were and a few have even asked for your number for their upcoming weddings.
Please pass my thanks to Marcus and the band.
Regards,
Carly and MarekJust a quick note to say that we thought the band were fantastic on Saturday night and we really enjoyed it!

Dear Marcus,
I had to write and say on behalf of all of us how fantastic you, Chantelle and the band were at Melissa and Ben¹s wedding on Sunday 26th August. The dance floor was packed all evening and it was definitely because of you and your music. All of our guests praised you and said how much they enjoyed your performance. What was especially nice was that we chose you because you are so different from the usual wedding bands and our guests thoroughly enjoyed hearing you perform.
I would also like to personally thank you for allowing my father-in-law Sid to join your band for the evening. It was very special for all of us to hear him play at such an important event.
Please pass on my thanks and praise to the rest of the crew.
I wish you continued success for the future.
With kind regards
Adrienne Susman
Hi Marcus
Just back from honeymoon this week. We wanted to write straightaway to thank you for such a fantastic performance at our wedding on 3 February. I know we sent a text from the airport (we couldn't wait to thank you! although, our phones then didn't work abroad) but we really wanted to expand on that and to show our appreciation in full.
As you probably gathered, Paul and I quite like to dance! But what thrilled us most, was that our guests didn't leave the dance floor all night! We've been to lots of weddings with live bands in the past, and although they are always the best kind of music, often the dancefloor is sadly empty! But Motor City have that special something. As soon as people walked into the room – young and old – they couldn't stop dancing!!
I remember going out of the room briefly and hearing you ask 'is everyone having a good time?!' and hearing a huge roar. As a bride, that is just the best feeling in the world!
Our only regret was that we ran over on our meal, giving less time for the party – we wished we could have danced all night!
We've had so many compliments I can't tell you. You were definitely the life and soul of the party, but guests have also remarked how amazing it was that every single band member was incredibly talented. It's very unusual to want to watch everybody at once!!You have such an amazing voice and an incredible stage presence. We were so lucky to have you there to make our party go with a bang.
Titus, thank you also to Music for London for helping to make the arrangement – and for such an easy booking process. We will certainly pass on your details to family and friends as we can't recommend you enough.
We can't thank you enough!
very best wishes
Katie & PaulDear Titus and Marcus

Dear Marcus, Moz and the Motor City Party Band,
Thank you so much for your extraordinary talents. The music you provided for our wedding reception was nothing less then stellar. It was so important to us to have a band that was passionate, talented and fun and we were thrilled to have you on board as you delivered brilliantly. From the Jewish music to our first dance to the Rat Pack to the Rock to the Soul you ignited the evening with a spark that had everyone energized and dancing the night away. Our guests continually came up to us to say that you were the ³greatest party band² they could ever remember hearing and we have to agree. Many of them commented on how they would gladly attend one of your concerts as you were such a pleasure to listen too and we ourselves look forward to catching one of your shows in the future.
Marcus, your joy of performance, soulfulness and beautiful voice helped to make the music on our ³Big Day² absolutely perfect. A big ³thanks² to Moz for playing keyboards during our ceremony with just the right touch. One of our fondest memories was looking around during your fantastic rendition of ³Sex Machine² to see all of our guests both young and old having the time of their lives. Seeing such a range of generations dancing together to that song is a testament to what great musicians can inspire. We can only say to anyone considering hiring you for their event that it will be one of the best decisions they could possibly make!
Wishing you continued success and creativity.
Much love,
Doug and Sarah Gorenstein
Hi Marcus,
A quick note to thank you – and all the band, for Saturday the 10th. The whole evening was a great success, and there was universal acclaim for you and the band. Also, it was gratifying how many guests mentioned their appreciation that you had managed to generate so much atmosphere without resorting to excessive volume.
We must do it again! All in all a really great show, and I sincerely thank you.
With best wishes,
Roy WinstonAgain - thanks so much for providing Marcus and his band, they were absolutely brilliant. And there have been so many compliments about them. We have received lots of lovely responses from everybody. We really enjoyed having you there you helped to make a fantastic night.

Dear Marcus,
we wanted to write to say a massive thank you for your wonderful performance at our wedding. The music and singing was fantastic and you really got our guests going. You managed to create exactly the atmosphere we wanted, all our friends have commented about the band and said how great you were.
The Jewish music was also great and even though lots of our guests didn't know what to do everyone still joined in and loved every minute!
We have wonderful photos of everyone dancing and having a great time. We got quite a surprise when we came in to poppers and dancing and it really set the night off with a bang!
We wish you well for the future and will definitely be recommending you to all our friends.
Thanks again
Jennifer and Ben RigbyThanks so much for your kind email - we had a fabulous day and so many people commented on how great Marcus and his band were. I have vivid memories of Murray (my husband!) singing "My Girl!" with Marcus in the middle of the dance floor - unforgettable!! I can't believe a month has gone by already - I'm very happy and am so glad we got the music right - he was just perfect.
Very best wishes,
Antonia
Hi Marcus.
Saturday February 26th 2005. It's got to go down in history! What an awesome night. The Barmitzvah was perfect. Exactly how I imagined it would be. Thank you and your band so much for making charles' night so special. You were fun and exciting and seemed to be enjoying it as much as us. If you want to view the highlights on DVD, let me know, it is fantastic!
Love and Thanks,
TerriHi Marcus,
Just got back from the honeymoon. You guys were simply fabulous. I have never heard so much raving about a band. Everyone told me what beautiful voice you have and how much fun it was. Your energy was contagious. I recognised at moments that the dance floor was not as packed as it could have been but fear not - that was in no way a reflection on you guys. At most weddings there is no chill out area for guests so our mates were just taking advantage of the incredible bar. We loved every minute of it and the Jewish dancing was amazing. I am sorry we did not get more of a chance to speak during the evening. We would love to send you a proper written thank you note. May I have your mailing address?
Kindest Regards,
Melanie and Andrew

"Marcus and his band were fantastic. The musicians were very professional and energetic, and Marcus has a tremendous voice. They played a great mix of songs that kept the dance floor crowded all night. I would certainly recommend Marcus for any wedding or large function. We got back from our honeymoon yesterday and just wanted to drop you a quick line to say thank you for making our wedding so special. You and the band were fantastic and we certainly enjoyed dancing the night away, as did our friends. The Jewish dancing at the start of the evening really set the tempo for the evening and we really appreciate the effort you went to to make sure that this was possible and done so well (even my mother said that she enjoyed it despite not wanting it in the first place!!).
We would have no hesitation in recommending you to anyone else who needs a fantastic band, so please feel free to allow people to contact us for a reference. We would very much like to purchase your CD "One More Time" and would be grateful if you could sign it for us as a memento.
Best regards and many thanks.

Thomas Fraser of Burra Isle, Shetland, passed away in 1978 aged only 50. A fisherman, a crofter - ordinary you might say - yet he left a stunning legacy: 1000s of songs recorded at home in his small croft house using a reel-to-reel recorder. Not music traditionally associated with Shetland entirely, for Thomas was an exponent of country and blues styles and his passion was the guitar.
