Classical. This term which is applied to music that has vague rather than specific meaning. Music compositions roughly between 1750 and 1830 from the post Baroque to pre Romantic period which covers the development of the classical symphony and concerts is generally classified as classical music. It is music of an orderly nature performed by trained classical musicians, with qualities of balance and clarity and emphasising formal beauty rather than emotional expression, but this does not mean the music is emotionally lacking. Classical Music performed by classical musicians is generally regarded as having permanent rather than emphemeral value. Classical music as orchestrated and played by classical musicians is used as a generic term meaning the opposite of light or popular and rock music.
