KAI MOTTA

A New Era in Creativity. A Fresh and Dynamic Energy He plays with his own six piece band and has a large following of fans. Ideal for  younger clients who would like something in the lines of a modern day Bob Dylan.

Picture That

“Bob Dylan, Bill Hicks, Charles Bukowski,” runs the lists of thank yous on this album’s sleeve. When it comes to modesty, the youthful Kai Motta clearly doesn’t believe in restraint. Nor does he believe in consistency as his ramshackle debut staggers between folk, hip hop, blues, rap and funk with all the panache of a jobbing pub band. Still, there’s something endearing in the way he tackles the big issues of the world (poverty, war, the crumbling eco-system) while shouting ‘C’mon people, let’s rap!’ like a mid- 80’s Sesame Street actor. And beneath the urban warrior demeanour there’s a satisfying Beck-like quality elevating him above the usual level of busker-done-good. It’s unlikely Motta will trouble the likes of Travis or Coldplay in the nu folk club’s VIP lounge, but as cheap, cheerful acoustic ranting goes, his application’s in the post.
