My name is Elitsa Marinkova and I am from Bulgaria. In our country there are many talented people. One of them are Sonia Yoncheva and Marin Yonchev. They are bother and sister and are really talented. But first let me tell you about them.

Sonia Petkova Yoncheva is born in 25 December 1981 in Plovdiv City, Bulgaria. From her early childhood she plays the piano and studies English. At that time she participates at the choir “Detska kitka”, wich is representive national and city choir. There she sang the low voice and maybe from that moment she started her development in singing. As a member of the choir she took part at the openings of asemblies at the Parliament of Europe, Germany, Italy, Greese, Spain, etc. where they became holders of prestige awards. She graduates in The Secondary School Of Music And Arts “Dobrin Petkov”. At 16 she goes to previte lessons in classical singing. Her teacher was Nelly Koitcheva-bulgarian opera singer and lector in her school. From 16 years old she writes the classical music and the texts of popular songs that took part in song competitions of local and national radio stations, where she had interviews with many famous music figures. She participated in number of festivals in Varna and ot
her places with her songs. At the same time she presented own TV show in the one of the Bulgarian channels. She was invited to take part in a youth musical theater.
On April 2000 she took second place in The National Competition With International Participation For Opera Singers ”Young Talants” in our capital city Sofia. In October the same year she took first place in the biggest competition for singers in Bulgaria, wich is produced by The Bulgarian National Television. In December 2000 she participates in a competition for bulgarian classical music for opera singers ,where she became a laureate. In January 2001 she and her brother Marin Yonchev became the ”Singers of Bulgaria for 2000”, wich was also prodused by Bulgarian National Television. In April 2001 she won first price in The Competition Of Austrian And German Music. The same year she has many personal concerts in her home town She performed works by Puchini ,Mozart, Shubert, Dvorjak, Rachmaninov, Bellini, Andrew Loyd Weber, Pursel, ect. She made recording in the Bulgarian National Television with her brother and they performed the song ”Time to say goodbye” from the repertoire of Andrea Bocceli and Sarah Brithman .At the moment she studies classical music in « Conservatoire de Musique de Geneve » in the class of Mme Danielle Borst and she is in the choir of « Grand Theatre de Geneve » since that season. She is often invited for different galas and concerts in Geneve, Lausanne and Milano. She won many awards of natinonal concurces in Bulgaria. She was finalist of The Enrico Caruso’s Competition in Milano and semi-finalist in The Competition Of Classical Singing Monserrat Caballe in Andorre. She sang the role of Isabella in the opera of Rossini « L’Inganno felice » for «The Compagnie lyrique de Geneve » in March 2005 Sonya Yoncheva has interpreted the roles of « The Coq » and « The Chouette » in « La Petite Renarde rusee » of Janacek for « Le Grand Theatre de Geneve » of the season 2005-2006. In 2004-2005 she won the award for singer in the opera of Mosetti in Lausanne. At the moment she is on a tour with other talanted people from all over the wor
ld because she won the competition of Willian Christie and that is one of her top moments in her career.
Sonya Yoncheva participates to several master classes held by Eda Moser, Alain Garichot and Nathalie Stutzmann. In June 2007 she sings the role of Norina in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale in the Th??tre de Caen, directed by Daniel Slater; then she takes part in the Academy of Aix en Provence Festival, where she wins the price of Les amis du Festival.
Sonya Yoncheva recently makes impressive debuts at the world’s most prestigious venues with Les Arts Florissants conducted by William Christie during the 2007 Jardin des Voix edition: Lincoln Center in New York, London Barbican Center, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Palais de Beaux-Arts in Brussels, Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Cit? de la Musique in Paris and Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon. Her performances were received by international critical acclaim. For her performance in Lincoln Center, the New York Times wrote “Sonya Yoncheva sang with a dark timbre ,but also a silkiness…” and The New York Sun wrote “The Bulgarian soprano Sonya Yoncheva was much better shaping her phrases deliciously in M’hai resa infelice from Handel’s Deidamia”. Often invited to perform in galas and concerts in Geneva, Lausanne and Milan, she currently studies with Danielle Borst at the Conservatory of Music in Geneva.
Her forthcoming engagements include participation in Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea at the Glyndebourne Festival, conducted by Emmanuelle Haim and directed by Robert Carsen; concert and recording of Pergolesi’s La Serva Padrona with the Switzerland Tv and Radio (RTSI) directed by Diego Fasolis; performances of Les Indes Galantes by Rameau and international tour with Les Arts Florissants.In October 2008 she will be the Ghost of Butterfly in the creation of “Welcome to the Voice”-modern rock opera in Th??tre de Chatelet in Paris(in the main roles Sting and Elvis Costello). In 2009 Mrs Yoncheva will participate in Il ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria conducted by William Christie at the Teatro Real in Madrid.

Her brother Marin Petkov Yonchev is born January 28, 1988 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. He is the winner of the first Star Academy reality show in Bulgaria in 2005.

Marin showed a particular interest in music in his earliest childhood. At the age of four Marin startes to play the piano. At the same age he won a competition singing a song of Freddie Mercury! From this age he also began to sing the songs of Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and many bulgarian singers. Marin had many performances in TV and live shows for talented children like “The Little Big Stars”, “Like The Lions” and others. From then on he has taken the first awards in many musical festivals and competitions.
Since the age of eight (1996 - 2001) Marin was a singer and a soloist in “The Plovdiv Boys’ and Men’s Choir” and had many participations with it on different festivals and competitions all over Europe. In the period 1996-1998 he played roles in the A’PART theatre in Plovdiv. Marin also had a role in a TV film, sponsored by the Queen of England and also performed the song of the film. In 2000 he and his sister Sonya Yoncheva became the winners of the year in a TV national music competition for young singers - “Hit minus one” with the duet song of Sarah Brghtman and Andrea Boccelli - “Time to Say Goodbye”. In 2004 Marin won the first prize for a young singer in a competition for french songs - “Aliance Fran?aise” with the songs “Oh,Marie” - Johny Hollyday and “L’envie d’aimer”-Pascal Obispo. In 2005 Marin Yonchev became the Winner of Star Academy - Bulgaria. After it he took part in the big national tour of Star Academy. In march 2006 Marin was rewarded the first prize for a de
but of BG Radio for his first song and clip - “One Toughtless Day” (”???? ????????? ???” in Cyrillic) . For 11 weeks his clip is on the first places in the competition - “The Big 10″ on the National Bulgarian Television. It is also on the top of radio and other TV musical charts.In 2007 Marin Yonchev is graduating the National School for Music and Arts in his hometown Plovdiv with basic subjects - operatic singing, contrabass (double bass) and piano. He can also play guitar and flute. Some of the songs that he performed in Star Academy were - Elvis Presley - “Always on my mind”; Frank Sinatra -”My Way”; Roy Orbison - “Pretty Woman”; Jon Bon Jovi -”Always”; Aerosmith - “I don’t want to miss a thing”; Righteous brothers - “Unchained Melody”; Sting - “Every breath you take”; Zucchero - “Senza Una Donna”; Jimmy Somerville -”You make me feel”; Elvis Presley - “One night”. He also sang many Bulgarian songs. Marin Yonchev also composes songs and writes the texts, mainly in English.
He has more than 30 author’s songs. In his concert repertoire are songs of Elvis Presley, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, David Coverdale, Freddie Mercury, Deep Purple, etc. and his author’s songs. He also performs tenor arias. His sister Sonya Yoncheva is a soloist at the Grand Th??tre de Gen?ve. Together Marin and Sonia have performed many duet songs. They have won the first awards in TV musical competitions with the songs “Time To Say Goodbye” and “Barcelona”.
