Social Responsibility Note to All London Giging Musicians

Nadya Gaughram of Whelans London first said she will inform the newspapers about how unreliable we are….. please see emails below, now she has said she will sue for ‘deflamation’ of character. Below is my reply and her email.

Hi Nadya
We  only want the balance £600.00 owed to the musicians. The rest  can
be forgotten about if we receive this. The blog will be removed.
We have the musicians as witness and written statement from them to
say they were not paid.
We also have the bounced cheque with your signature.
If you do not have the funds. We can wait. Please give us a date you
will pay the balance.
Like I said it is the truth. The court of law will always uphold  this.
If our musicians and us have to go to court to state the truth. We
will. The band who performed at your event has performed for us for
seven years. They have never had such an issue with any customer in
the past.
I will leave it in your hands to resolve this.
I have law degree too.

Kind Regards
Titus Raj

Hi Titus,

You have been paid the agreed amount and I shall put up on our blog aswell as many other music sites we have linked to the pub, that you are unreliable and did not follow through with the agreed contract.

We will also inform the papers of your uncourtious manner and threats.

You have now started this argument i will now finish it.

Whelan’s London

Social Responsibility Note to All London Giging Musicians

Ok this is really interesting. An article from the Irish Post. I have copied and posted it as well incase it is deleted.

http://www.irishpost.co.uk/tabId/550/itemId/2878/Whelans-music-scene-set-for-London.aspx

If Whelans London is not part of Whelans London this should bring up an interesting copyright and trademark infringement case.

I have been told that Whelans Dublin is seeking legal advice.

Also the cheque for the part payment on the day bounced, I will posting the scanned cheque shortly.

Titus

IRELAND’S best known live music venue is to open a second home in Britain.

Whelan’s, the pub that is synonymous with Wexford Street, is applying the finishing touches to a venue in north London which will closely mirror the popular Dublin nightspot.

Speaking of the opening Sam Sanders of Whelan’s said: “Our plan is to get this venue up and running and then open a second Whelan’s in London and hopefully one in New York. We think Whelan’s will be a big success here, there is definitely a market for the type of venue we will become and the brand of live acts who will be performing here.”

This weekend in Islington popular act Róisín Dubh will get proceedings under way and with a late licence until 2am every weekend, it’s expected that there will be no shortage of craic in north London.

But according to Sanders, success will be about more than that: “We will be offering freshly cooked Irish food and already we’ve been told that we have a good pint of Guinness. And we will have a similar décor to the Whelan’s in Dublin. Put it this way, we won’t be going down the cliché Irish pub route.”

Whelan’s originally opened in Dublin 20 years ago in 1989 and has become one of the names on the city’s live music circuit in recent years. It has been home to artists such as Christy Moore, Jens Lekman and Grammy-nominated Clare folk singer Maura O’Connell.

The London venue will open Saturday, May 30 at 60 Copenhagen Street, N1 0JW. Contact 020 7278 5781 for further details.
