Balabush Quartet

Balabush play an eclectic mix of Klezmer, Traditional Eastern European and Gypsy music as background, as a focus, for dancing – or to provide different moods at the same event to suit the needs of the occasion.

Gabite and Meros (quartet)

Terk in Amerika (quartet)

Rucenitsa (quartet)

Freylichs from Warsaw (quartet)

They play Klezmer and traditional European music in restaurants, festivals, theatres, bars, arts centres and for private parties. Past public engagements include the Almeida Theatre Islington, the Arcola Theatre, Windsor Festival, the Poetry Café in Covent Garden, Chelsea Arts Club and The Santanyi College of Music, Majorca. They have performed over 100 concerts and have recorded two CDs.

The influence of the Quartet’s various backgrounds include classical, ceilidh and swing/gypsy jazz – combine to give a unique flavour to their repertoire of traditional Eastern European and Klezmer music. Klezmer is a musical tradition of the Jews of Eastern Europe
