Woodwind Quartet & Concert Ensemble

Since its conception as a professional chamber group, The London Woodwind Quartet & Ensemble has performed regularly in the UK and internationally, with a wide-ranging repertoire ranging from classical to contemporary.
The Ensemble performs as a flexible ensemble, with a wind Quartet as its core. Performances range from duo repertoire to sextet, adding strings or piano for many concerts.

Members share a passion for chamber music alongside a wealth of experience within the music profession. Individual members have worked with major ensembles, orchestras, and eminent musicians in the UK and internationally, including the Royal Philharmonic Hallé Orchestra, Royal Opera House Orchestra and BBC Symphony Orchestra.

Following their First Prize win at the 2nd International Israeli Music Competition. the London Woodwind Ensemble has performed at the Purcell Room in the Southbank Centre and live on BBC Radio 3’s “In Tune” programme.
The Quartet performs regularly in recitals, with notable venues including St. Martin-in-the-Fields, St. James’s Piccadilly, St. Paul’s, Covent Garden, they also enjoy providing music for various events, including weddings and parties. Previous premieres have included Ultramarine by Peter Nickol, Myriad by Owen Bourne, Quintet by Gregers Brinch and Nüssliphone by Stephan Hodel, all written for The London Woodwind Quartet and the UK premiere of Carl Schimmel’s Towns of Wind and Wood.
The Ensemble is also available as a Quintet and Sextet.

They have also worked as the resident Ensemble for the organisation of composers – New Music Brighton culminating in two concerts and over ten works written for them to perform in these concerts.
The London Woodwind Quartet has a keen interest in education and outreach work, and individual members have a wide variety of experience as instrumental teachers and ensemble tutors in addition to their professional performing work.
They currently run a course three times a year for pre-formed wind ensembles at Benslow Music Trust in Hertfordshire and have led workshops in schools around London.
They are also a resident group with the Concordia Foundation, with whom they helped to devise and participate in the first of the foundation’s Young Audiences projects.
