Duality is the collaboration of singer Tessan & keyboardist Gordon Hulbert. Taking songs that speak to them, the duo create unique and personal interpretations of each one and uses them as a springboard for improvisation.

Tessan – SINGER
Perhaps better known as a singer at the heart of the international club scene, Tessan was also heavily involved from day one in the UK’s soul/ jazz arena – particularly with JTQ, Roger Beaujolais (Vibraphonic, the Beaujolais Band), Full Flava and Courtney Pine and she has an impressive list of credits, recording and performing live with these artists.
As a session singer, Tessan has worked most notably with:

Gordon Hulbert – KEYBOARDIST
Musical director and producer Gordon Hulbert has a long history of playing live with diverse artists such as:
- Hugh Masekela
- Chaka Khan
- Roy Ayers
- The Temptations
- Imogen Heap
- Alexander O’Neal
- Imagination
- Heatwave
He was a member of the Mr Bongo label’s Latin project Mr Hermano and joined multiple BMI award-winning folktronica band Psapp for their European and US tours in 2006.
Gordon leads a double life as a composer/producer for movies and TV, opening his own recording studio in Notting Hill in 1997. As such, he has collaborated with Willy Russell, Bill Laswell, Axel Kroell, the Berman Brothers, and many more.
His productions can be heard on Palace Films, KODA Films, MTV, NBC, and BBC, as well as commissioned remixes for artists such as Julian Stringle (Polydor) and Salif Keita and Burt Bacharach (Universal Jazz).

Duality often works as a quintet and has featured some of the UK’s jazz royalty, both live and in the recording studio. Roberto Manzin, Mark Mondesir, Jerry Brown, Phill Mulford, Neville Malcolm, Greg Heath, James Gardiner-Bateman and Andy Hamill have all added their own unique sound to the mix.
Duality is the choice for the music connoisseur. The focus is on improvisational mastery and the deep, soulful interpretation of well chosen material. They are best suited for an event where the music itself is an attraction for a discerning audience that appreciates high level artistry
