The Smokey Jazz Band is a funky collective led by drummer Roy Pfeffer.
The band play some of the greatest funk to come from New Orleans with original arrangements and a contemporary approach all the while keeping it finger-snapping good!
The band started from a desire to pay homage to some of the artists and music they grew up listening to, including the groovy sounds of the New Orleans Funk movement in the 60s and 70s.
The Smokey Jazz Band blows like a Jazz band but plays traditional grooves, putting the main emphasis on a communicative gig.
Their sole aim is to get everyone up to dance!
The band is also making serious waves on the UK music scene.
Regularly selling out Ronnie Scott’s in Soho and other residencies at The Shoreditch, Charlie Wright’s, The Archduke and regular appearances at the RichMix, The band also played some incredible shows at some of the UK’s hottest festivals including the London Jazz Festival, Bestival and Secret Garden Party.
The Smokey Jazz Band is a completely organic band that only gets funkier.
