Gemma is a freelance saxophonist & composer from the North West, UK. She plays soprano, alto & tenor saxophones and doubles on flute, clarinet & piano.

For the past 5 years, Gemma has been travelling the world performing on luxury cruise liners. She accompanies guest entertainers, leads big band dance sets and plays for production shows such as “Hairspray”, the Broadway Musical.

The most recent ship was the RCCL Oasis of the Seas (the largest ship in the world), where she was promoted to Musical Director.

Gemma’s qualifications are based in classical music, but she also plays other genres such as jazz, pop, funk, soul, rock ‘n’ roll & folk.

As a composer, Gemma has had the opportunity to collaborate with Seni Seneviratne, a poet for the Leeds Lieder+ project, and has had pieces performed by The Goldberg Ensemble, The London Sinfonietta, The Liverpool Philharmonic 10/10 Ensemble and was commissioned to write a piece for The Lancashire Sinfonietta after winning their Young Newcomer competition in 2007.

Gemma is involved with many educational projects, teaching music from beginners to advanced level; 1-1 lessons, small group workshops and ensemble coaching.
