Authentic Japanese Taiko. Extraordinary live impact.
Taiko Kai brings the raw power, precision and theatrical energy of traditional Japanese drumming to your event.
Founded by experienced Taiko performers with a deep understanding of Japanese musical tradition, Taiko Kai creates performances that are both authentic and highly adaptable.
Powerful ensemble drumming, intricate rhythms and original compositions combine to create a spectacular live experience — from a dramatic opening moment to an immersive headline performance.
With a flexible lineup, Taiko Kai can tailor its performance to the scale, atmosphere and format of an event. From an intimate trio creating a sophisticated musical welcome, to a large-scale ensemble delivering a high-impact theatrical spectacle, the group can shape its presentation around the occasion, venue and audience.
Their extensive experience includes performances for high-profile international events, including the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, where they featured prominently in press and media coverage from the iconic setting of Leadenhall Market. Their work has also been broadcast by the BBC and featured on Channel 4.
Taiko Kai’s international credentials extend to performances in Japan and collaborations with leading artists and companies. They have worked with Kodo’s Chieko Kojima and Hana-Yui, and toured internationally with the Henri Oguike Dance Company in Second Signal — an acclaimed fusion of Taiko and contemporary dance.
Their artistic versatility is equally evident in Dojoji, a unique production developed with Chieko Kojima combining Taiko, dance, music and traditional Japanese storytelling. The production culminated in a full performance at Peter Gabriel’s WOMAD Festival.
